About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Construction Project Manager to oversee significant commercial building projects in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, UK . This senior role requires a proven ability to manage projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. You will be responsible for leading project teams, coordinating with stakeholders, and mitigating risks to ensure successful project outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of commercial construction projects, including planning, design, procurement, execution, and close-out.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Oversee site operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Appoint and manage contractors and subcontractors, ensuring performance and contractual adherence.
- Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and regulatory bodies to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Identify and manage project risks, developing mitigation strategies to minimize impact.
- Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings.
- Approve project milestones and financial expenditures.
- Ensure all projects are delivered to client satisfaction and company standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in construction project management, with a focus on commercial buildings.
- Proven track record of successfully managing multiple large-scale construction projects.
- In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, and site safety regulations.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and standard office software.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Strong financial acumen and contract management experience.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing site presence with remote administrative tasks.
- Professional certifications such as PMP or MCIOB are advantageous.
