About the Role
Our client, a nationally recognised contractor renowned for its expertise in large-scale infrastructure development, is looking for a seasoned Project Manager to lead key projects in the Newcastle upon Tyne area. This role offers the chance to manage diverse and challenging projects, from initial planning through to successful completion. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring successful delivery against objectives.
- Develop and implement detailed project plans, including scope, budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Oversee project teams, including site staff, engineers, and subcontractors, providing clear direction and support.
- Manage project finances, including budget control, cost forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies, fostering strong working relationships.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues to minimise impact on project objectives.
- Manage procurement processes and ensure effective contract administration.
- Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings to monitor performance and address any deviations.
- Champion a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the project team.
Requirements
- A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline, or substantial equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 7 years' experience in project management within the construction industry, with a focus on infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrable track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, contract management, and project planning software.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in risk management and quality assurance processes.
- Full UK driving license and willingness to travel as required within the Newcastle upon Tyne region.
- Relevant professional accreditation (e.g., APM, CIOB) is highly desirable.
- Experience with NEC or JCT contracts.
