Overview In this role you will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of a landmark life sciences facility in Oxford, partnering with the University of Oxford and key stakeholders. You will manage multidisciplinary teams, complex MEP and containment environments, and ensure quality, safety and timely handover. The project supports world-class vaccine research and pandemic sciences, contributing to national preparedness. You will drive digital engineering adoption and sustainable delivery while aligning with Laing O'Rourke's values.
Responsibilities - Lead day-to-day management and successful delivery from construction through handover
- Develop and monitor delivery strategies, programmes, budgets and resources
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams for integrated lab, research and education spaces
- Oversee laboratory environments, specialist MEP systems, clean rooms and critical infrastructure
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards
- Monitor performance against programme, cost and quality; implement corrective actions
- Build and maintain relationships with University of Oxford, designers, researchers and suppliers
- Lead governance activities including reporting, forecasting, risk management and change control
- Drive adoption of digital engineering, BIM and modern methods of construction
- Support commissioning, validation and handover to ensure facilities are fully operational
- Champion sustainability and net-zero objectives

Key requirements - Fit-out trade background or degree qualified in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline
- Proven track record delivering large-scale construction projects valued at 50m+
- Experience managing complex projects within life sciences, healthcare, pharmaceutical, higher education, advanced technology or research environments
