Role Purpose
The Assistant Project Manager will support the delivery of multiple projects from inception to completion. The role involves assisting with procurement, contract administration, consultant coordination, site inspections, project reporting and stakeholder management while developing towards managing projects independently.
This position is ideally suited to an individual who is currently studying Project Management, Building Surveying or a related construction discipline and is looking to complement their academic studies with practical, hands-on experience within a professional consultancy environment, or has just started out in project management.
Full mentoring and support will be provided, with opportunities for continued professional development and progression towards chartered status.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Project Managers in delivering refurbishment, lifecycle and capital projects.
- Prepare project documentation, programmes, reports and meeting minutes.
- Assist with procurement exercises including tender documentation and evaluations.
- Coordinate consultants, contractors and client stakeholders.
- Undertake site visits, inspections and condition surveys.
- Monitor programme, cost, quality and project risks.
- Assist with JCT and NEC contract administration.
- Support lifecycle planning and asset replacement projects.
- Maintain accurate project records and trackers.
- Attend client and contractor meetings.
- Promote compliance with CDM Regulations and health & safety requirements.
- Represent CSG professionally and build strong client relationships.
Essential Requirements
- Degree (or working towards), HNC/HND or equivalent in Construction, Project Management, Building Surveying or similar.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Commercially astute.
- Willing to learn.
- Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel.
Desirable
- Experience within a construction consultancy.
- Knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts.
- Knowledge of PFI/PPP/BSF.
- Experience of NHS, education or PFI environments.
- Working towards APM, CIOB or RICS membership.
- Microsoft Project experience.
