About the Role
Our client, a leading developer in the renewable energy sector, is seeking an experienced and proactive Renewable Energy Project Manager to oversee significant projects across the
Birmingham, West Midlands, UK region. This is a critical role focused on the successful planning, execution, and delivery of solar, wind, and battery storage projects from inception to completion. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to budget, timeline, and quality standards. This position requires a hands-on approach and extensive knowledge of renewable energy technologies and project management best practices. Working from our
Birmingham office and project sites, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our client's clean energy portfolio in the heart of the UK. We are looking for a results-oriented individual with strong leadership capabilities and a deep commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of renewable energy projects, including site assessment, permitting, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Oversee and coordinate with internal teams, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure all projects comply with relevant regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies.
- Conduct regular site visits and project progress meetings to monitor performance and address issues.
- Manage project risks, identify potential challenges, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Prepare comprehensive project reports and present updates to senior management and clients.
- Foster a collaborative and safe working environment on project sites in and around Birmingham .
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes and standards within the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Proven experience (5+ years) as a Project Manager in the renewable energy industry, specifically with solar PV, wind, or energy storage systems.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
- Demonstrated experience in managing project budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant UK planning, environmental, and grid connection regulations.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to travel within the West Midlands region and occasionally further afield.
- Experience in risk management and problem-solving.
