About the Role
Our client is a major telecommunications infrastructure provider undertaking significant network expansion projects across the UK. They are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Senior Telecoms Project Manager to lead critical network rollout initiatives. This role will be responsible for the end-to-end management of complex projects, from initial planning and stakeholder engagement through to successful delivery and handover. Based in or able to commute to **Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, UK**, this position offers a hybrid working model, allowing for a balance between essential site visits/office collaboration and remote working flexibility. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing large-scale telecom projects, excellent leadership capabilities, and a strong understanding of network deployment methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of telecom network rollout projects, including scope definition, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation strategies.
- Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
- Lead and motivate multi-disciplinary project teams, including engineers, technicians, site acquisition specialists, and external contractors.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders (e.g., engineering, operations, finance) and external parties (e.g., suppliers, local authorities, clients).
- Manage project communications, providing regular progress reports and updates to senior management and stakeholders.
- Oversee the procurement process for project-related materials and services.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Conduct project post-mortems and identify lessons learned to improve future project delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field; a Master's degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of proven experience in project management within the telecommunications industry, with a focus on network infrastructure rollouts (e.g., fibre, mobile, fixed-line).
- Demonstrated experience managing projects with budgets exceeding £5 million.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile, PMP) and associated software tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira).
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent understanding of telecom network technologies and deployment processes.
- Experience managing geographically dispersed teams and complex supply chains.
- Ability to travel to project sites within the **Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, UK**, area and potentially other UK locations as required for the hybrid role.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and reporting skills.
- Proven ability to manage risks and resolve complex issues effectively.
