Overview In this role you lead the end-to-end delivery of complex space, defence, and satellite communications projects within an innovative engineering team in Cambridge. You collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, commercial, and customer stakeholders to ensure successful, compliant programme outcomes in highly regulated environments. You will guide cross-disciplinary teams, oversee performance, and drive continuous improvement and accountability. This position offers impact across technical domains and a chance to shape critical space and defence initiatives.
Pay / Benefits - salary 80,000-85,000 plus bonus
Responsibilities - Lead full lifecycle delivery of complex space, defence, and satellite communications projects
- Act as main point of contact for customers, partners, and internal stakeholders
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and risk registers
- Ensure delivery within scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including RF, mechanical, software, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality
- Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions
- Manage project financial performance including forecasting and budget control
- Prepare and present project reviews and reports to customers and senior leadership
- Support business development and bid activities through technical and commercial proposals
- Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Key requirements - Degree qualified in Engineering, Project Management, or related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience
- Proven experience delivering complex engineering projects within space, defence, satellite communications, or related sectors
- Strong understanding of RF-based systems including satellite communications, radar, electronic warfare, or payload technologies
- Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams in highly regulated environments
- Proficiency with MS Project, Primavera, Jira, or equivalent
- Knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2, or APMP methodologies
- Strong commercial awareness with budget and financial performance experience
- Excellent stakeholder management, leadership, communication, and influencing skills
- Strong problem-solving, organisational, and risk management abilities
- Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC)
