Overview In this Senior Project Manager role, you lead capital water projects within a collaborative infrastructure team supporting the Environment Agency’s flood risk and asset management programme. You drive delivery across the full lifecycle, from inception to commissioning, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and ensuring value for clients. The role combines governance, risk, and contract oversight with client relationship building to turn bold ideas into tangible, safe infrastructure. Responsibilities - Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary project delivery of capital investment schemes
- Provide client-side project management support through lifecycle stages (option studies, development, tender, NEC contract administration, site delivery)
- Mentor and develop Project Managers, Graduates and Apprentices
- Establish governance structures with clear roles and accountabilities
- Manage client, stakeholder, H&S, risk, quality, schedule, and contract aspects of projects
- Ensure delivery against quality, cost, and time targets for commissions
- Allocate resources and oversee subcontractors, including remote teams
- Develop strong client relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Support business development and bid submissions for new opportunities
- Oversee bid submissions and documentation to align with client expectations
- Foster an environment of innovation and collaborative delivery
Key requirements - Infrastructure project management experience, water industry experience desirable
- Experience with NEC contracts, particularly PSC and ECC (NEC ECC Accredited desirable)
- Experience in integrated, multi-organisation, collaborative teams
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Strong motivation with an expanding industry network
- Relationship-building with clients, teammates, and stakeholders
- Ability to work autonomously while supporting senior leadership in project delivery
- Team-oriented, proactive, adaptable, and client-focused
- Strong IT skills and numeracy; capability to prepare bid submissions
- Post-qualification project management experience and leadership, including stakeholder engagement and tender documentation
- Degree in project management, engineering, environmental science, construction, or related field; NEC3/NEC4 experience; PM qualification (APM PMQ or PRINCE2) desirable
