About the Role
Our client, a pioneering firm in the sustainable energy landscape, is actively searching for an experienced Lead Geothermal Energy Project Manager to spearhead critical initiatives in Newcastle upon Tyne . This senior role demands exceptional leadership and a profound understanding of geothermal energy systems, from exploration and drilling to plant construction and operation. You will be instrumental in driving the success of large-scale geothermal projects, ensuring they meet stringent technical, environmental, and financial objectives. The position requires a strategic thinker with a proven history of managing complex, multi-stakeholder energy projects, ensuring seamless execution and optimal outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of geothermal energy projects, from initial site assessment to operational handover.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, budget, schedule, and resource allocation.
- Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including geologists, engineers, drilling specialists, and contractors.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards throughout project execution.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for all project phases.
- Liaise with stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and investors, to foster collaboration and secure necessary approvals.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Manage procurement processes, including tender evaluations and contract negotiations with suppliers and service providers.
- Prepare regular project status reports for senior management and key stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Geological, Mechanical, or Civil preferred), Earth Sciences, or a related technical field. A Master's degree is advantageous.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in project management within the energy sector, with a substantial focus on geothermal energy development.
- Demonstrated success in managing projects with budgets exceeding £50 million.
- Strong understanding of geothermal resource assessment, drilling techniques, and power plant design.
- Expertise in project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2) and relevant software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and build consensus among diverse groups.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Must possess the right to work in the United Kingdom.
