About the Role
Our client, a key player in the UK's energy infrastructure, is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Grid Modernization Project Manager to join their team based in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, UK . You will be responsible for planning, executing, and closing complex grid modernization projects, managing cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end management of grid modernization projects, from initiation and planning through execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
- Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, technicians, contractors, and external consultants.
- Oversee the procurement process for necessary equipment, materials, and services.
- Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Facilitate effective communication among project stakeholders, including senior management, operational teams, and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, environmental policies, and industry standards throughout project lifecycles.
- Manage project change control processes and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management methodologies and best practices within the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, or related field), Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of project management experience, with a significant portion focused on utility, energy infrastructure, or grid modernization projects.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and dependencies.
- Strong understanding of electrical grid operations, technologies, and challenges related to modernization (e.g., smart grids, renewables integration, asset management).
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in budget management and financial oversight of projects.
- Ability to identify and mitigate project risks effectively.
- Experience working within a hybrid work environment, comfortable with both remote collaboration and on-site presence.
- Relevant project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) are highly desirable.
