Our client is a forward-thinking energy company spearheading the development and deployment of hydrogen technologies to decarbonize various industrial sectors. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Hydrogen Energy Project Manager to join our growing team based in
Leeds . This hybrid role requires a blend of strategic leadership, technical expertise, and strong project management capabilities. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of diverse hydrogen energy projects, from initial feasibility studies and conceptual design through to construction, commissioning, and operation. Your expertise will be vital in navigating the complex landscape of hydrogen production, storage, and distribution infrastructure. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the UK's net-zero ambitions by driving the adoption of clean hydrogen solutions. You will work closely with engineering teams, regulatory bodies, and key industry partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of hydrogen energy projects, ensuring they meet technical, safety, and commercial objectives.
- Develop project plans, budgets, and schedules, and monitor progress against key milestones.
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and site selection analyses for hydrogen facilities.
- Coordinate with internal engineering teams, external consultants, and EPC contractors throughout project execution.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards specific to hydrogen technologies.
- Liaise with stakeholders, including government agencies, industrial customers, and technology providers.
- Manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies effectively.
- Contribute to the strategic development of the company's hydrogen portfolio.
- Prepare project reports and present updates to senior management and project stakeholders.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. A Master's degree is a plus.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in project management within the energy sector, with at least 3 years specifically focused on hydrogen or related low-carbon energy technologies (e.g., CCUS, advanced biofuels).
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale capital projects from inception to completion.
- Strong understanding of hydrogen production methods (e.g., electrolysis, SMR), storage solutions, and distribution.
- Familiarity with relevant safety codes and standards for hydrogen handling and infrastructure.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing office and remote responsibilities.
- Must have the right to work in the UK.
