About the Role
Our client, a rapidly expanding renewable energy developer with a strong focus on solar and energy storage solutions, is looking for a dedicated Renewable Energy Project Manager to join their team in Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK . This role is central to the successful delivery of utility-scale solar photovoltaic and battery storage projects from conception through to commissioning. You will be responsible for overseeing all project phases, including site acquisition, permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, and financial close. The successful candidate will possess excellent leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, coupled with a deep understanding of renewable energy technologies and project finance. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects, from initial feasibility studies to final commissioning.
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal teams (development, engineering, finance) and external stakeholders (contractors, suppliers, regulators, community groups).
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
- Oversee the procurement process, including tender evaluation and contract negotiation with EPC contractors and key suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with all planning permissions, grid connection agreements, and environmental regulations.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, developing contingency plans as needed.
- Prepare regular project status reports for senior management and investors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key industry partners and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management within the renewable energy sector, with a specific focus on solar PV and/or battery storage projects.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- Strong understanding of project development processes, including permitting, grid connection, and EPC contracting.
- Excellent knowledge of financial modelling and project finance principles in the energy sector.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
